Visual Studio C++ Hello World Tutorial

The first step for any programmer in any new language is to write a basic 'hello world' program, this is both to test if they can get a program to work and to check understand their language and environment.
By the end of this tutorial you should have created a program that looks like this (maybe 'hi' was friendlier):

This tutorial uses visual studio 2008; you can use the free 'express' version of visual studio/visual C++ obtainable here:

NINE INCH NAILS: GHOSTS I-IV Review

иIиE IиCH иAILS GHOSTS I-IV

Hearing of Ghosts I-IV the 36 track instrumental from Trent Renzor and Aticcus Ross (later producing the soundtracks to the social network and the girl with the dragon tattoo) it was not one to inspire me and drive me to a purchase. I downloaded ghosts I to see what it was like, but again remained uninspired and unconnected, I found it hard to connect with the music without vocals and the simplicity of the pieces.

However two years later I picked up a cd copy of Ghosts I-IV and I must say my mind has changed considerably...

What is this 'indie' we've heard so much about?

Indie means independent / independence and has been around for quite some time! It's a shock to me how some people walk around saying their indie dressed in their labelled clothes!

Film Review: A Dangerous Method (2012)

For many people in life the human mind is a source of great wonder and amazement. The film 'a dangerous method' truly appeals to me, The film starring Michael Fassbender , Kiera Knightly and Viggo Mortensen explores the finer points of the Freud era of psychoanalysis and it does it perfectly. Yes the film has examples of masochism but it really makes you wonder what we are capable of and the all human wonder of why we are here.

Meme of the month: The cake is a lie

June

Portal was released in 2007 by valve and since then has achieved internet fame and in my books the status of 'best internet meme.' The game involves a test subject who is awoken from hypersleep to find she is in a science lab being tested. As you progress through the game you encounter a computerised gamesmaster called GLaDOS and she is a nasty piece of work. Among her many sarcastic remarks she offers 'cake' and grief counselling to survivors of the testing. Oh how i love portal!

Asus X101H Netbook review

The X101H comes nicely packed in a brown 'eco' box, easily opened it contains the netbook, user guide, guarantee and a set of parts that you assemble your mains adaptor which thankfully are not needed as there is also the X101H's battery sitting at the back of the box.

Having purchased the black edition of the sub-£200 machine...

It's good to see you again Gandalf!

It's been almost a decade since the original Lord of the rings film was released, a film trilogy that took extraordinary measures to keep to tolkiens designs. Several years ago it was announced that the hobbit would be made by the same magnificent director Peter Jackson! Well I assure you it is worth the wait!
We journey back into middle earth like never before...

Not aMUSEd!

Muse a well -known brit rock band have recently finished a rather impressive stadium tour around the world. Having been an avid listener and dedicated fan I was especially pleased when Matt Bellamy anounced 'something different' and 'personal' was in order. Having watched the recent
trailer for the new album '2nd law' my opinion changed dramatically.

Muse's beginnings were in the small town of Teignmouth in England and due to the isolation muse bloomed into a dark repressed teenage image. Their early work contained emotionally outstanding vocal performances and began the trial of 'radiohead-like' experimentation.
