Command Prompt for fools (Windows only)

Command prompt is a very useful tool for whenever explorer is filled with bugs or you just can't use it... here are the basic commands you NEED to know.

Take it from us... you NEVER want to do this[ image above]; despite what anyone tells you, even the government, or especially the trolls.

The command you are most likely to use is change directory this is run simply as 'cd' followed by where you want to go, this is very useful in navigating files. Also ../ can be used to go up by one, rather than having to retype.


Occasionally you'll get lost, you can't remember what your looking for. The directory listing command 'dir' lists all the files at your current location.


Copy and move act as your new "cut and paste" typing 'copy' or 'move' followed by the first file and then the location will do just that, well that was easy.


Done what you needed, you can always use 'exit' to leave the command prompt.


Some other useful commands:

'time' & 'date' - display time and date
'shutdown' - gives you a variety of options including reboots and timed & force shutdown
'del' - deletes the file
'find' - searches your pc

Remember all commands can be run with there full location or ./ for current directory; you could also go back two ../../
