The 27th June 2012 was an important date for muse fans, it was the release for the first single off their new album 'The 2nd Law'. Aired on BBC Radio One and cited as the official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games, great anticipation surrounded the new single...
Starting with a slow piano intro accompanied by a violin (or similar) sounding like much of the 'The Resistance' album, creates a pleasant atmosphere, after a minute of such it goes into the more contemporary 'chug' of piano similar to that off the intro on 'Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix'. Unusually upbeat of muse songs Matt starts singing in a lower tone very slow, unusually reminiscent of the 'The Resistance'. Strange harmonizing vocals appear to overpower the song and have a more prominent role than the main vocal line. The guitar joins in similar to that off 'United States of Eurasia', simple in structure, fitting well into this song. Overall the song, not without it's merits, is nothing special, and lacks the distinction to place it near any classics.
